Living with Kidney Disease

Dr. Pratim started his session by explaining how the kidney works and various kidney diseases. He then described the economic burden of kidney disease. He discussed he common challenges that are faced by kidney patients and how kidney patients can live a good life even with kidney disease. He also discussed about vaccination in patients with chronic kidney disease, sleep disorders in kidney patients and other complications.

Mrs. Archana focused her talk on nutritional problems and dietary management of patients who are suffering from chronic kidney disease. She discussed the issue of protein energy malnutrition in kidney patients and effect of dietary counselling on nutritional status of patients with kidney disease. She discussed the dietary goals and nutrient requirements of kidney patients in details. She ended her session with information regarding diet management of dialysis patients with COVID-19.

Mrs. Vasundhara discussed the various challenge faced by patients having chronic kidney disease and how to help the patients overcome these issues. She discussed about the financial, social and psychological problems faced by these patients and enumerated various methods to help them solve their difficulties. This webinar was organized in association with NIPRO Renal Care to commemorate World Kidney Day (11th March 2021).
