Date: 23rd June 2020

Dr. Subbarao spoke about the importance of communication and he emphasized that nutrition education and communication are necessary for combating the problems of malnutrition but it alone is not sufficient. He also spoke about various stakeholders involved in behaviour change communication and how they help people understand the importance of nutrition. He described how nutrition communication has many challenges as nutrition messages do not interest many people because nutrition communication is directed at behaviour change. The perception of risk makes individuals take up a behaviour. Lastly, he emphasized that addressing knowledge-to-practice gap and practice -to-knowledge gap is the need of the hour.
