Nutritional and Psychological support for COVID-19 patients/Survivors

Dr. Sagar discussed effect of COVID 19 on mental health. He discussed about the mental health care of patients before, during and after COVID-19 infection. He discussed various causes for stress during COVID-19 and its psychiatric implication. He discussed the care to be taken by family members and shared messages that should be disseminated to general public, children and care givers to reduce mental health burden during COVID-19 infection.

Dr. Palekar discussed the nutritional management of COVID-19 patients/ survivors. She discussed the role of dietitian in COVID-19 management. She discussed the changes in blood parameters and meal patterns to be followed during COVID-19 infection. She shared healthy recipes for small snacks for COVID-19 patients. She also discussed how to manage meals during home quarantine. She also discussed about post discharge diet for COVID-19 patients.

This webinar was organized to commemorate World Health Day (7th April). At the start of the webinar, 3 NSI life members: Dr. Anuradha Mitra, Mrs. Madhavi Sathe and Dr. Eileen Canday shared their real-life experience of dealing with COVID-19 infection. NSI Mumbai Chapter also facilitated dietitians who have worked tirelessly as frontline dietitians during the lock down period in this webinar.
